Class And Workshop Bookings

  • Spaces on workshops or classes will not be reserved without payment.

  • Workshop spaces will only be confirmed once full payment has been received. This applies to both group workshops and 1-2-1 tuition.  

  • If a class is full you can request to be added to a waiting list. If a space becomes available it will only be confirmed once full payment has been received. 

  • Thimble People is not responsible for any injury incurred during a workshop or class. It is up to the client to be responsible for their physical wellbeing.

 Cancellation Of Workshops

  • Clients may transfer their workshop booking to an alternative date up to 5 days before the booked class.

  • If a booking is cancelled by the client up to 7 days before the session, the client will be entitled to a full refund.

  • If a booking is cancelled by the client within 7 days of the session, the client will be entitled to a 50% refund only. 

  • If a booking is cancelled by the client within 24 hours of the class or a pupil does not attend a pre-booked class, no refunds will be offered.

  • We ask that you arrive on time for your booked class. No refunds will be offered to clients who arrive late and miss a section(s) of the class. 

Thimble People reserves the right to re-schedule and cancel classes due to low numbers, availability of tutors, severe weather or government-issued covid restrictions.  Should we need to do this you will be contacted about rescheduling and we will ensure you are able to attend your workshop on a different date where possible. If no rescheduled date can be agreed, a full refund will be issued.

Usage Of Your Own Equipment

All tools and materials required for workshops will be provided by Thimble People unless otherwise stated. 

For workshops and 1-2-1 classes requiring the use of your own equipment (e.g sewing machine), please ensure that it is fully working and that a copy of the manual is available during the class. Refunds cannot be issued for a cancelled or disrupted class due to non-operational equipment supplied by the client.  

We recommend you have your sewing machine serviced before the date of your chosen class. This will ensure that your machine is running correctly and that the class can run smoothly. Make To Sell Guidelines

Unless otherwise stated, you are welcome to use our workshop projects and PDF patterns to make items to sell, both online or at craft fairs, on a small scale. However, we do ask you to credit us for the patterns or projects used. We ask that you do this in the following ways:

  • A written credit including name (Harriet Bushnell, Thimble People) and website on physical labels on products.

  • A written credit, including name (Harriet Bushnell, Thimble People) and a link to the pattern or workshop on online sales platforms and item listings (such as Etsy, Folksy, your own website, etc).

Please note that this only applies to items that you have made with our patterns in small scale production (under 100 pieces per year, across all patterns and projects). Mass production of our designs, as well as the reproduction of our patterns and teaching materials, is strictly prohibited. This will be considered a breach of copyright law and intellectual property theft.

Product Details

We reserve the right to amend, without notice: prices, descriptions and details of all products and services displayed in our physical, online and Etsy shops. All prices and offers shown on this site are subject to stock and booking availability. Every effort is made to ensure accurate information and descriptions. All colours of products shown on this website are shown as true to the item as possible. However, our photos are intended for use as a guide and are not guaranteed to be accurate as all screens and monitors display colour differently.

Shipping and Dispatch Times

All items on our Etsy are listed with clearly displayed shipping fees and dispatch times, where applicable. Please see individual listings for exact postage charges.

PDF patterns and workshop/1-2-1 tuition fees are not subject to postage charges or dispatch times as these are not physical items.

Tax and Customs Charges

Prices shown in our online shop and Etsy include VAT at the appropriate rate where applicable. Customs charges on international orders must be covered by the buyer. Please check your country's customs fees before ordering from Thimble People.

Returns Policy

If you are not satisfied with a product purchased via our online shop or Etsy, you may return it for a refund. This is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer in the United Kingdom. The following terms and conditions will apply:

You must inform us of any intention to return the item/items within 14 days of receipt of the goods either by phone or email. If an item has arrived damaged in transit, you must inform us of this within 24 hours of receipt. Thimble People advise on return postage methods and will pay the return postage cost if the item was found to be faulty, or if the item was dispatched by us in error. Thimble People will not pay for return postage in cases of changes of mind or damage on delivery without proof from the courier. Thimble People is not responsible for additional postage costs if you chose to use a more expensive service to the one we recommend. 

If the item was ordered in error, or if you simply do not want the goods, you will be responsible for the cost of the return postage. Under these circumstances, where valuable items are being returned it is advisable that you should select insured shipping, as Thimble People will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to goods returned for refund. Refunds will only be issued upon safe receipt of the goods being returned. 

With the exception of items that were delivered and found to be damaged or faulty, goods being returned for a refund must be unused. They must also be returned in their original packaging and in new, resaleable condition. 

Where payment has been made by credit/debit card, monies refunded can only be applied to the card which the customer used to make the original purchase. For security purposes, we may need to contact you to verify these details. Under normal circumstances, refunds will be credited to customers within 3-5 business days of returned items being safely received back to Thimble People.

Thimble People will adjust the amount refunded to cover any items found to be missing from orders that have been returned. It is up to you to check that all goods being returned are complete before being parcelled up and returned. Please ensure that you carefully pack any items being returned to us. As the sender, the customer is responsible for the return carriage and we will not cover the cost of goods that get damaged in transit on their way back to us.

PLEASE NOTE: PDF patterns are not eligible for refunds as they cannot be returned due to their downloadable nature.
